Over the weekend of March 26th and 27th, 12 Lion volunteers huddled around the log splitter and in 12 hours split over 10 cords of wood in preparation for next winters firewood delivery for those in need. The firewood program is one of the Gabriola Island Lions Club’s signature activities.
Under the leadership of Lion (Chop Master) Mike, a small group of Lions split over 3 cords of wood in less than 3 hours. A big thank you goes to Joe McDonnell with his custom built wood splitter and barbeque pit.
Once again, the Gabriola Lions Club volunteers braved the elements and for 5 days, gleefully walked the ferry lineup looking for donations to the Christmas hamper fund that feeds those in need within our community during the holiday season. Once again, under the determined leadership of Lion Bill Moisuik, four shifts of enthusiastic Gabriola Lions managed traffic control and parking at the Community Hall where over 906 Gabriolans were vaccinated over the course of 4 days.
