As we do every year in early December, the Gabriola Lions Club members braved the elements to walk the lineup of our lovely ferry users asking for a donation to the annual Gabriola Lions Christmas hamper fund. And, once again, our local Gabrolans and many off island residents did not disappoint. We are always so impressed with your generosity and it really is so heartwarming. In many cases, the Lions did not even have to ask as donations were handed over without question! Even if you were unable to contribute, we loved your heartfelt Christmas wishes!
The entire collected monies go towards Christmas hampers that help those Gabriolan families needing a helping hand during the holiday season. Through all the efforts last year, our club donated over $8,000 to the Christmas Bureau and this will provide and little more joy to over 150 families. This year, we received over $9,000 in funds that will help many more Gabriolan families. Thank you all you generous citizens of Gabriola and Vancouver Island! And, thank you Lion Kathy for above and beyond in organizing this important event.
