Once again, the Gabriola Lions Club braved the winter elements to collect monies from motorists stuck in the ferry lineup with no way to escape! In actual fact, almost everyone (the others know who there are) were more than happy to pony up for such a worthy cause as helping those in need during the holidays. every single dollar goes to providing gift certificates at our local Nesters store that are handed out to the Gabriolan families in need of a little support this year.
From Lion Kathy: “Wow!! What a fantastic ferry line-up we had this year. I would like to pass on my heartfelt thank you for all the members that signed up to do the ferry line-up and braved the rain and rather chilly weather. GREAT JOB!!! The end result says a lot about our island folk and their wonderful generosity.”
Through all the efforts last year, our club donated $7,600 to the Christmas Bureau and this will provide and little more joy to 152 families.
This year, we received over $8,300 in funds that will help over 160 Gabriolan families.
