Lion Mike Phillips was awarded by the Gabriola Lions Club for his outstanding work in our community by spearheading our signature firewood program over so many years. The Firewood Program supplies firewood and kindling to those in need on Gabriola, thereby ensuring families stay warm over the winter months. Lion Mike represents everything that the Lions Club members around the world try to achieve by helping their community without fear or favour. His dedication to making sure that all members of our community that are in need of winter warmth will not go without over all these years is truly inspiring to all of us in the Gabriola Lions Club and truly represents what the Lions are all about.
The award came in the form of a song, re-worded to reflect Mike’s character and sung by Lion’s choir members with an accompanying video production. The award presentation occurred at our regular club meeting of December 13th 2021 and included a plaque decorated with a golden axe. Well deserved, Lion Mike!
