Concert ot Green Aug 10th 2023

This year’s Concert on the Green was the best event we have had ever! Over 1800 fans came out to witness the music and the beat of one of Canada’s most outstanding touring bands: The Legendary Powder Blues Band. And with the opening band, Gabriola’s own Road Poets began its set, the crowd was in a for a party that went all night long. Tom Lavin even enjoyed the band’s evening on the island as well writing us a letter about how fantastic it was to play in front of such an enthusiastic crowd. Way to go Gabriola!

And thank you to Lion John Roman for organizing another fantastic concert show!

The 50/50 draw was such a success that Lion Bruce started cutting up his own tickets to sell.
Lions Larry and John discuss their choice of sun screen that will offer them complete sun protection while preserving the coral reefs of Gabriola and their natural glow.
Somehow Lions Suzy Carol and Maureen thought they had ended up at a bar in the Hawaii to celebrate sea turtles but then realized they were still on Gabriola.
As a dedicated Swifie, our charter president Eric Boulton thought he had finally made it to a Taylor Swift concert only to find out that it was not to be. Maybe next year!
Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues Band plays in front of a hugely enthusiastic Gabriola crowd.
Past president Lion Betsy and new president Lion Jon congratulate our concert 50/50 winner while treasurer Lion Kathy, with a forced smile, is ready to hand over the loot bag.
Until a few hours later, Lion Graham who was manning the 50/50 draw tent, thought gas station Sushi was a good idea.
As usual, head security officer Lion Bill is preparing to capture any underclothing thrown at the stage during the concert. Everything I get is added to my wardrobe he says.
With a sudden gust, this young fan cleared the dance floor and ended up at Twin Beaches but was soon brought back to enjoy the main act, This time without the umbrella.
